Scottish Alternative Music Awards… Again!

Gigs // Thankfully, I survived my trip up to Inverness. Playing with Lady North and Dead Boy Robotics in one evening was fine, it was the shenanigans in our hostel afterwards which caused the most amount of damage in the morning.

Frank Finlayson from Inverness Gigs popped along and wrote a nice little review of the show which you can read here. Houdi Donnelly also popped along at soundcheck to capture a couple of snaps of us which you can view here.

This week Lady North are playing at Sick Note on Thursday 2nd Feb at Cab Vol. It’s a club night so we won’t be on until midnight, but it’s only £2/£1 with student card so there’s no excuses. Click here for the facebook event confirming the details I’ve provided.

Lady North are then playing on Wed 22nd Feb at Electric Circus as part of Uncle Vic Galloway’s ‘Presents…’ show. Also playing are Homework and Birdhead. Tickets are £5 in advance and can be purchased from Ripping/Avalanche/Tickets Scotland or online from Ticketweb. Click here for more details.

Other News // Lady North have been nominated for ‘Best Rock/Alternative’ act at this years Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMAs)! Richy Muirhead, founder and creative director of the SAMAs, said: “Every year the awards are such a buzz, and I see it as a great opportunity to showcase the diversity of the music scene in Scotland, whilst giving artists the chance to forward their career and become even more noticed”. We’re very honoured to have been nominated for an award, second year in a row. Massive thank you to Richy and the people at SAMAs! You can check out the shortlist for our category below.

The Dolby Anol remix of Dead Boy Robotics single ‘Ever’ was featured on Ally McCrae’s BBC Introducing Show on Sunday 30/01/12. Check it out here at the 1hr 16min mark. It’s “off the cheese board […] slamming”.

Whilst up in Inverness, Dead Boy Robotics recorded a stripped back session for Marion Scott’s Sunday Show on Moray Firth Radio. I’m not sure exactly when it’s going out but I believe the tracks will be available on the web at some point if you fancy giving them a tickle.
